What Can I Make with a Cricut Machine? 10 Ideas to Inspire You

June 1, 2021

(This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut. All opinions are 100% mine.)

A few months ago, I wrote a post about how to make money with Cricut, and today I wanted to cover something related, but a bit different. This post is all about things you can make with a Cricut machine, but not necessarily to sell.

This post is here to inspire you, whether you just got your Cricut (and are scared to open the box – been there!) or are just thinking about getting one and thinking, “Well, how will I even use my Cricut anyway? What can I make with my Cricut machine?”

Now, these are things you could absolutely sell and create a Cricut business around too, if you wanted. But for now, sit back, relax and be ready to be wow-ed what you can make with a Cricut!

All the projects below can be made with any Cricut — the Maker, Explore Air or Joy. However, some will be easier on the larger machines (Maker + Explore), whereas cards are actually easier with the Joy due to its dedicated card mat.

But on with the list!

1. 3D Boxes

Did you know you can make 3D projects with your Cricut machine? That can be cute animal figures or even packaging for gifts or for products for your business.

Cricut Access has tons of premade boxes you can cut from cardstock and assemble in a matter of minutes. You can also find many designs on sites like Etsy, too, but everything you need for 3D boxes is right inside Cricut. These and thousands of other projects are included in the Access membership.

2. Paper Artwork

Check out these multi-layered works of art! You can use your Cricut to create highly detailed, intricate paper artwork like these examples. They would look perfect anywhere in your home, and could even be something you sell if you create your own designs.

Again, Cricut Access has a lot of projects and Creative Fabrica is another good place to find very intricate projects to make. These are both from Creative Fabrica, the world map here and the lions here.

3. Die-Cut Stickers

Everyone loves stickers! Do you ever hoard stickers and never use them because you’re worried that you’ll stick it to something and then later wish you stuck it to something else? 🤦‍♀️ #StickerAnxiety

With your Cricut, you can make your own so you never have the dreaded sticker regret.

You can print stickers of your own artwork, artwork you buy online or designs in Cricut Access. Cricut even has their own sticker paper as well (although I haven’t tried it personally).

4. Household Labels

Want that fancy organized pantry look you see on every influencer’s Instagram these days?

Buy some dollar store pantry organizer bins and dress them up with fancy script labels cut with your Cricut machine.

As a bonus, you can use Smart Vinyl which cuts without a mat. It can’t get any easier.

5. Cards for Any Occasion

This is where the Joy in particular really shines — pro level cards made in MINUTES! Cricut Access has tons of card designs for every holiday or occasion and all you have to do is load an Insert Cart onto the Cricut Card Mat, pop it in the Joy machine and click Go.

I haven’t bought a card at the store in over a year since getting my Cricut Joy.

6. Window Decals

Dress your place up for the holidays with fun window clings you can easily cut with your Cricut machine and apply to any glass surface. This would be a great craft to do with kids, or again, something you could sell online.

7. Mugs!

I put an exclamation point because… mugs! Everyone loves a good mug. I make a ton of them in my shop, and there are tons of awesome files on Cricut Access, or you can easily create your own.

If you don’t have a mug press, you can cut vinyl and stick it to mugs. Or, you can use Infusible Ink with the new Cricut mug press to create dishwasher safe mugs that will last a lifetime. Such a good gift idea too!

Also, fun fact, the mug press is the easiest way to make them, but you can also make Infusible Ink mugs in a convection (toaster) oven. That’s how I do mine. You just need a mug wrap and a convection toaster oven. (NOTE: It CANNOT be an oven that you make food in. It must be dedicated to crafting only due to chemicals/fumes.)

8. Cupcake & Food Toppers

Perfect for any event, party, or casual get-together to label appetizers, dessers, charcuterie boards, etc. Look at you, pro party planner.

9. Home Decor

You can save a ton of money on decor by making it yourself with your Cricut, like this abstract pillow, this tropical coaster set, this wall art (!), or this wall shelf.

10. Pretty Much Any Accessory Ever

Koozies? Check. Cosmetic bags? Yep. Wine bottle gift bags? Yah. Clothes? Shoe customizations? Hairbands? Yup, yup and yup.

Cricut Access has a TON of projects you can make for yourself or for gifts for anyone on your list.

You can customize drinkware with permanent vinyl, like these cups I’ve made:

Or, use Iron On on a pair of shoes, use Infusible Ink on a wine bag, or make earrings, a bookmark… Seriously. Anything.

Start Crafting with Your Cricut Today

Cricuts don’t like living in their boxes, Cricuts like to craft! 😉 Free yours from its cardboard prison today and get started with a project for your home. That’s what I did. And now look at me, running 2 businesses with my Cricut as a big component of that… all because I made a few labels one day and got addicted.

I’m just sayin’… once you live the craft life, you always live the craft life.

What’s your favourite thing to make with your Cricut right now? Let me know in the comments!
